3V, SC70 PORTABLE VIDEO BUFFER CONSUMES 150nA SHUTDOWN CURRENT
SUNNYVALE, CA-May 13, 2003-Maxim Integrated Products
(NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX4090 3V/5V, 6dB video buffer with sync-tip input clamp and output sag correction. Packaged in an SC70 and consuming only 150nA of shutdown current, the MAX4090 is half the size and consumes 200 times less shutdown power than competing products. The sag-corrected output drives AC-coupled, 150Ω back-terminated video loads in portable video applications, such as digital still cameras, DVD players, PDAs, cell phones, and notebook computers.
The sag-correction feature introduces low-frequency compensation, which reduces the bulky and expensive 330µF to 1000µF AC-coupling capacitor to two smaller, less expensive 22µF capacitors. The input clamp positions the video waveform at the output, allowing the MAX4090 to function as either an AC- or DC-coupled output driver, making it ideal as an input buffer for displays and digital TVs.
The MAX4090 operates from a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply and consumes only 6.5mA of supply current. The shutdown mode reduces the supply current to 150nA, ideal for low-power, battery-operated video applications.
The MAX4090 is available in tiny 6-pin SOT23 and SC70 packages and is specified over the extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Prices start at $0.49 (1000-up, FOB USA).
