SUNNYVALE, CA-November 26, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) builds upon its industry-leading backplane equalizer portfolio by introducing the MAX3785 6.25Gbps PC board equalizer. Optimized for 1.8V, DC-coupled FR4 backplane interconnections, the MAX3785 is coding independent, functioning equally well for 8b/10b or scrambled signals between 1Gbps and 6.4Gbps. Its flexibility effectively extends the life and upgradability of existing chassis installations by enabling clean 6.25Gbps signals over 30in of FR4.
The MAX3785 uses a fixed-input network to compensate for losses, followed by a limiting amplifier and output driver. The specially designed compensation network provides sufficient reach while consuming only 60mW of power from a 1.8V supply.
The MAX3785 features DC-coupled current-mode logic (CML) data inputs and outputs. The MAX3785 is packaged in a tiny 3 x 3 chip-scale package (UCSP™) measuring 1.5mm x 1.5mm. Prices start at $4.95 (1000-up, FOB USA).
