INDUSTRY'S FIRST 2.5GHz LVECL/LVPECL MULTIPLEXERS FROM MAXIM

SUNNYVALE, CA-November 18, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX9386/MAX9387/MAX9388 single, low-skew differential LVPECL/PECL/LVECL/ECL 5:1, 5:2, and 4:1 multiplexers designed for clock and data redundancy and multiplexing circuits in mass storage servers, DSLAMs, base stations, automatic test equipment, central office switches, networking switches and routers, and miscellaneous communication applications where low jitter (0.3ps RMS typical added random jitter at 2.5Gbps clock pattern) is critical for signal integrity. The MAX9386/MAX9387 are 5:1 multiplexers, with MAX9387 having two identical outputs; this feature is useful in redundant systems. On the MAX9386/MAX9387, three single-ended select inputs control the mux function and route selected input signals to the output(s). The MAX9388 is a 4:1 mux and is a pin-compatible upgrade to the MC100EP57 with 28% lower supply current.

The MAX9386/MAX9387/MAX9388 are designed to operate with a wide supply range from 2.375V to 5.5V in PECL (5V) or LVPECL (3V and 2.5V) systems and -2.375V to -5.5V in LVECL (-2.5V and -3V) and ECL (-5V) systems.

Differential output is specified at >300mV at 2.5GHz minimum switching frequency, and is specified for the extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C).

The MAX9386 and MAX9388 are available in 20-pin TSSOP and QSOP packages. The MAX9387 is offered in 24-pin TSSOP and QSOP packages. Refer to the MAX9386/MAX9387/MAX9388 data sheet for package outlines.

Prices start at $8.25 for the MAX9386, $8.90 for the MAX9387, and $7.80 for the MAX9388 (1000-up, FOB USA).
