2-WIRE SERIAL INTERFACE, 4-CHANNEL 8-BIT ADC FITS IN SOT23
Note to Editor: These parts are the smallest multichannel ADCs available on the market. The MAX1036/MAX1037 are the only 4-channel ADCs available in an 8-pin SOT23 package, and the MAX1038/MAX1039 are the only 12-channel ADCs available in a 16-pin QSOP.
SUNNYVALE, CA-May 28, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX1036-MAX1039 2-wire serial interface, 188ksps, 8-bit ADCs. These parts combine an internal track/hold, voltage reference, and clock in an 8-pin SOT23 package for 4 channels and a 16-pin QSOP for 12 channels. This complete family of 8-bit ADCs offers 3V or 5V single-supply operation, internal or external reference, and 4 or 12 input channels. Their small size, low-power operation, excellent dynamic performance, and ease of use make them well-suited for battery-powered and portable applications.
The software-configurable analog inputs support single-ended/true-differential and unipolar/bipolar modes. In addition, the channel-scan mode, combined with the internal FIFO, reduces interface overhead. The MAX1037 and MAX1039 operate from a single 2.7V to 3.6V supply and the MAX1036 and MAX1038 operate from a single 4.5V to 5.5V supply.
Consuming only 350E^A at a sample rate of 188ksps, Adaptive Power Consumption™ reduces the supply current to 8µA at 10ksps and under 1µA at slower sampling rates. The full-scale analog input range is determined by an internal reference of 2.048V (MAX1037/MAX1039) and 4.096V (MAX1036/MAX1038), or an external reference in the 1V to VDD range.
The 2-wire serial interface supports interface speeds up to 1.7MHz (including industry-standard speeds of 100kHz and 400kHz). The MAX1036/MAX1037 are available in 8-pin SOT23 packages and the MAX1038/MAX1039 in 16-pin QSOP packages. All four parts are available in the extended (-40°C to +85°C) temperature range.
