LOW-JITTER, LOW-NOISE 400Mbps LVDS REPEATER AND LVPECL-TO-LVDS TRANSLATOR IN SC70 PACKAGES
SUNNYVALE, CA-May 15, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX9180 low-jitter 400Mbps repeater and the MAX9181 LVPECL-to-LVDS translator, the newest members of the Maxim LVDS family in an SC70 package. The MAX9180 accepts a single LVDS signal and duplicates it at a single LVDS output. The MAX9181 accepts a single LVPECL input and translates it to a single LVDS output. The MAX9180 is ideal for buffering LVDS signals sent over long distances in noisy environments, such as cable and backplane. The MAX9181 is designed to interface between LVPECL and LVDS interfaces in systems that require minimum jitter, noise, power, and space. Both devices are ideal for next-generation communications equipment, such as add/drop muxes, base stations, DSLAMs, and network switches/routers. The MAX9181 is best suited for applications that are migrating to LVDS clock and data distribution, but are still using some legacy devices with LVPECL I/Os.
Ultra-low, 23psP-P added deterministic jitter and 0.6psRMS added random jitter ensure reliable communication in high-speed links that are highly sensitive to timing errors, especially those incorporating clock-and-data recovery, PLLs, serializers, or deserializers. The MAX9180/MAX9181 guarantee a 400Mbps data rate.
These devices operate from a single 3.3V supply and consume only 10mA supply current over a -40°C to +85°C temperature range. The MAX9180/MAX9181 are available in a 6-pin SC70 package. Prices start at $1.08 (2500-up, FOB USA).
