ULTRA-LOW POWER, PRECISION DUAL 10- AND 12-BIT DACs HAVE GUARANTEED 10ppm/°C INTERNAL REFERENCE
Note to Editor: These devices are the lowest power dual 10- and 12-bit DACs with internal reference available today-nearly 2x less power than the closest competitor. These devices not only have the lowest maximum internal voltage-reference temperature drift, they are the only dual 10- and 12-bit serial
DACs that guarantee it.
SUNNYVALE, CA-February 27, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX5230-MAX5233. These new devices are dual 10- and 12-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) that provide superior linearity combined with a precision internal voltage reference that is guaranteed to 10ppm/°C (max), all in a small 6mm x 5mm 16-pin QSOP package. The 475µA maximum supply current offers significant power savings over comparable dual 10- and 12-bit DACs with an internal voltage reference. The small package and internal reference offer a significant advantage in space-critical applications such as optical networking, automatic test equipment, and motion control.
These DACs can be powered by 3V (MAX5231/MAX5233) or 5V (MAX5230/MAX5232) single-supply voltages. Typical supply current is 420µA and is reduced to less than 0.9µA when in full power-down mode. Other features include programmable shutdown output impedances of 1kΩ or 200kΩ, output buffers that swing Rail-to-Rail, and a power-on reset that clears all registers to zero. The 13.5MHz 3-wire serial interface is SPI, QSPI, and MICROWIRE compatible. A digital output allows for data readback and daisy-chaining multiple devices.
Prices for the 12-bit MAX5230/MAX5231 and 10-bit MAX5232/
MAX5233 start at $7.75 and $4.48, respectively (1000-up, FOB USA, B grade).
