SIMPLEST 1-CELL Li+ FAST-CHARGING SOLUTION
SUNNYVALE, CA-February 19, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX1898 full-function, constant-current/constant-voltage (CCCV) linear charger for a single-cell lithium-ion (Li+) battery.
The MAX1898 fits in a 10-pin µMAX package and provides full features from a simple and small application circuit, requiring only a single low-cost PNP or PMOS transistor. The charge-current-sensing resistor is built in. Additional features include a safety timer, AC adapter detection, precharge of deep discharged cell and charge-current monitor, and charge indication circuit (for logic or LED signaling). An optional low-cost resistor can be added to set the charge current to a level below its preset 1.4A, or to program the safety timer. Battery voltage regulation is ±0.75%.
The MAX1898 is available in the extended-industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Prices start at $1.45 (1000-up, FOB USA).
