+3.3V RS-485/RS-422 TRANSCEIVER, PACKAGED IN AN 8-PIN SOT, TRANSMITS DATA UP TO 16Mbps
Note to Editors: The MAX3362 is a truly significant product. It is the smallest +3.3V RS-485/RS-422 transceiver. This 16Mbps device is packaged in an 8-pin SOT.
SUNNYVALE, CA-November 12, 2001-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX3362 high-speed RS-485/RS-422 transceiver. This device is packaged in an 8-pin SOT, saving 70% board space over the industry-standard SO. In addition, the MAX3362 features hot-swap circuitry, eliminating data glitches during hot insertion. This circuitry holds the RS-485/RS-422 lines in a high-impedance state during startup to avoid sending false data.
The MAX3362 operates from a single +3.3V supply and consumes only 1µA of supply current while in shutdown mode. The logic signals are designed to be compatible with +3.3V or +5V systems. This device is ideal for clock or data distribution applications utilizing its 16Mbps data rate. The MAX3362 features a 1/8-unit load input impedance, allowing up to 256 transceivers to be connected on a single bus. True fail-safe circuitry is also designed into the receiver input structures to ensure a logic output high if the bus is open, shorted, or all transmitters are in a high-impedance state.
The MAX3362 is available in the commercial and extended temperature ranges. Prices start at $1.51 (1000-up, FOB USA).
