SUNNYVALE, CA—March 6, 2008—Maxim Integrated Products (Pink Sheets: MXIM) introduces the MAX2117 zero-IF (ZIF) tuner for UHF-band MMDS applications. This device receives QPSK signals in the 470MHz to 1000MHz range and downconverts them to baseband for demodulation. Specifically designed for China's UHF-band MMDS systems, the MAX2117 is compatible with most DVB-S demodulators. A low 8dB (typ) noise figure, combined with a better than 25dB (typ) adjacent-channel protection ratio (ACPR), makes this device ideal for MMDS applications.
The MAX2117 operates from a single, 3.3V ±5% supply and consumes only 330mW. Though it has been designed to operate with a low-cost 4MHz crystal, an internal reference divider allows the user to select any crystal in the 4MHz to 8MHz range.
Fully specified over the 0°C to +70°C commercial temperature range, the MAX2117 is available in a small, 5mm x 5mm, 28-pin TQFN package. Prices start at $5.00 (1000-up, FOB USA). An evaluation kit is available to speed designs.
Maxim Integrated Products, a two billion dollar company, designs and manufactures ICs for analog and mixed-signal applications. The company's broad portfolio of 27 product categories is among the industry's deepest, with over 5400 products.
