SUNNYVALE, CA—May 14, 2007—Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX3397E 2-channel, bidirectional level translator in a tiny, 2mm x 2mm µDFN package. This device provides level shifting for data transfer in a multivoltage system by accepting voltage ranges from +1.2V to +5.5V on the VL side and +1.65V to +5.5V on the ±15kV ESD-protected VCC side. Over the specified operating-voltage ranges, the MAX3397E provides a guaranteed data rate of 8Mbps. The low supply voltage, small package, and ESD protection of this device make it ideal for data transfer between low-voltage ASICs/PLDs and higher voltage systems.

The MAX3397E features an enable pin that activates the shutdown mode by disconnecting the internal 10kΩ pullup resistors on the I/O VCC and VL lines. This forces the I/O lines to a high-impedance state and decreases the supply current to less than 1µA.

The MAX3397E is fully specified for the extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C), and is available in a tiny, 2mm x 2mm, 8-pin µDFN package. Prices start at $1.18 (1000-up, FOB USA).
