Single-Channel CVBS Video Filters and Buffers Drive Two DC-Coupled Video Loads

SUNNYVALE, CA-September 9, 2005-Maxim Integrated Products announces the MAX7462*/MAX7463 single-channel video reconstruction filters and buffers for use in CVBS video reconstruction applications, or wherever analog video is reconstructed from a digital data stream. Typical applications include cable/satellite/terrestrial set-top boxes, DVD players, hard-disk recorders (HDRs), and personal video recorders (PVRs).

The MAX7462/MAX7463 use a continuous-time, Butterworth-type-response lowpass filter to attenuate the sampling frequency of the DAC encoder. Both parts operate from a single +5V supply, and have a flat +-0.05dB passband response to 5MHz and -43dB of stopband attenuation at 27MHz, making them ideal for NTSC and PAL video signals.

The output buffers support two standard video loads that may be either AC- or DC-coupled. The MAX7463 has a fixed +6dB gain, while the MAX7462 has a pin-selectable gain of +6dB or 9.5dB, to support input signals less than the standard 1VP-P. In addition, the MAX7463 offers a pin-selectable output disable that places the output in a high impedance state, allowing for multiplexing of multiple output signals.

The MAX7462 is available in 8-pin microMAX(R) and SO packages, and the MAX7463 is available in an 8-pin SO package. Both parts are specified over the extended commercial (0 degrees Celsius to +85 degrees Celsius) temperature range, with prices starting at $0.58 (1000-up, FOB USA).
