Industry's Smallest, Low-EMI, 3V All-Silicon Center-Spread Clock Oscillator

DALLAS, TX—October 29, 2004—Dallas Semiconductor introduces the DS1089L, a center-spread-spectrum EconOscillator that offers up to 20dB reduction in radiated emissions (RMS voltage) compared to crystal oscillators. It is the industry's smallest, low-EMI, 3V, all-silicon clock oscillator. This fixed-frequency device comes preprogrammed from the factory with a choice of four center-dithered modulation frequencies of ±1%, ±2%, ±4%, ±8%, and a choice of three dithering rates of fMOSC/2048, fMOSC/4096, and fMOSC/8192.

The DS1089L can be used as a stand-alone oscillator to generate clock outputs from 130kHz to 66.6MHz. Using the company's spread-spectrum DS1089L as the system clock can simplify, or eliminate, shielding and filtering normally used to reduce EMI, thus reducing cost and minimizing design time. The DS1089L operates from 2.7V to 3.6V, and is available in the tiny 8-pin µSOP. Prices start at $0.85 (1000-up, FOB USA.)

EconOscillator is a trademark of Dallas Semiconductor Corp.
