DS3508은 채널당 1바이트 온 칩 EEPROM 및 1바이트 SRAM 메모리가 내장된 프로그래밍 가능 8채널 감마 전압 발생기이다. 각각의 채널은 관련된 EEPROM/SRAM 메모리 쌍과 함께 독립적인 8비트 DAC로 구성된다. 파워 업 시 비휘발성 (NV) EEPROM 감마 데이터는 대응하는 SRAM 레지스터에 로드되어 관련된 8비트 DAC를 구동한다. 온 칩 제어 레지스터는 SRAM/EEPROM 또는 SRAM 쓰기를 선택적으로 제어할 수 있다.
DS3508은 저전력 동작을 하도록 설계되어 있어 VDD 전원에서 2mA (일반) 미만을 소비한다. 프로그래밍은 I²C 호환 직렬 인터페이스를 통해 이루어지며 최대 400kHz 속도까지 지원된다.
