MAX5471/MAX5472/MAX5474/MAX5475 선형 테이퍼 디지털 포텐쇼미터는 기계적 포텐쇼미터의 기능을 수행하지만, 3-wire 업/다운 디지털 인터페이스가 적용되어 구성이 좀 더 단순한 것이 특징이다. 이들 디지털 포텐쇼미터는 비휘발성 메모리(EEPROM)를 포함하고 있어 와이퍼를 파워 업 상에서 저장된 본래의 위치로 되돌릴 수 있다.
2단자 가변 저항기인 MAX5471/MAX5472는 6핀 SOT23 패키지로 제공된다. 3단자 포텐쇼미터인 MAX5474/MAX5475는 8핀 SOT23 패키지로 제공된다.
MAX5471/MAX5474는 50kΩ 전체 저항을 가지고 있고 MAX5472/MAX5475는 100kΩ 전체 저항을 가지고 있다. 이들 소자는 32개의 와이퍼 위치를 가지고 있으며 미터비율법(ratiometric) 온도 계수(5ppm/°C)가 낮다. +2.7V ~ +5.25V의 단일 전원으로 동작하며, 각 소자의 동작 온도 범위는 -40°C ~ +85°C이다.
