백색 LED를 위한 MAX1916 고성능, 저전압강하 바이어스 전원은 일반 백색 LED 설계에 사용되는 단순 밸러스트 저항을 대체한다. MAX1916은 단일 저항을 사용하여 3개의 LED 바이어스 전류를 설정하며, 0.3%로 정합된다. MAX1916은 동작 시에는 공급 전류의 40µA를 소비하고, 동작하지 않을 때는 0.05µA만 소비한다.
밸러스트 저항으로 인한 MAX1916의 이점은 뛰어난 LED-to-LED 바이어스 정합, 공급 전압 변동 시 훨씬 낮은 바이어스 변동, 매우 낮은 강하 전압, 그리고 일부 애플리케이션의 경우 효율이 대폭 증가되는 등 여러 가지가 있다. MAX1916은 LED 휘도 정합을 위해 각 출력마다 9mA 부하에서 200mV의 전압강하를 필요로 한다.
