Maxim's Design Tools Shorten Design Times and Help Meet Target Specifications on the First Pass

Overview of Design Software Options

Several options are available for designing ASICs with Maxim: Maxim supports Cadence Analog Artist™ (now called Analog Design Environment). You can use your Cadence software to execute an entire design from schematic capture and simulation, through IC layout and verification. Complete technology files and design libraries are provided. Supported software licenses include Analog Artist, Spectre, SpectreRF, corners, statistics, Virtuoso XL, and DIVA LVS. Support for Virtuoso Custom Router is in development, so please contact the factory for more information.
  • Maxim's QuickTools™ Design System
QuickTools™ provides complete IC schematic, simulation, and layout capabilities preconfigured and process-tailored with Maxim's design libraries, electrical rules, and process limits. QuickTools includes: Maxim Analog Design System (ADS), a complete schematic capture and simulation environment; QuERC™, a bias-analysis electrical rules checker; and QuicKic™, a netlist-driven IC layout editor. Tool methodologies are streamlined, so even the first-time user can be productive immediately. Complete documentation includes user manuals and tutorials.

QuickTools will run on any UNIX®-based Sun™ workstation with the Solaris™ 2.3 (or higher) operating system. We recommend 64MB of RAM and 200MB of free disk space.
You can design and layout a Maxim high-frequency ASIC completely on a personal computer, without the need for a UNIX workstation. Maxim's PC-based design system includes schematic libraries and simulation models for PSpice¹, and QuicKic, Maxim's netlist-driven IC layout editor, running on Windows® NT, Windows 95, and Windows 98.
Maxim is pleased to announce a new design tool offering. Agilent ADS provides complete IC schematic, and simulation capabilities. Maxim's QuicKic provides the necessary layout support. Agilent ADS is supported on both Unix and PC platforms for the following operating systems: SunOS 5.6, 5.7 and 5.8; HP UX 10.2 and 11.0; IBM AIX 4.3 or higher; and Windows 98, NT 4.0, or 2000. (Note: Windows 95 is not supported.). For PCs, the Intel Pentium class/ 200MHz CPU and 128MB of RAM is the recommended minimum hardware configuration.

Training

To ensure that your ASIC design begins quickly and flows smoothly, Maxim includes intensive process, design, and QuickTools training as part of your startup package. During this training, you will have the opportunity to discuss your application with Maxim's experienced designers or applications engineers.
