MCF5282:

- The DS80C400 is available in an easy-to-work-with 100-pin LQFP package. The MCF5282 is in a 256-pin BGA which requires special equipment to solder to a PCB.
- The DS80C400 has lower power operation (maximum current of 85mA vs.150mA for the MCF5282).
- DS80C400 requires external code memory, giving users flexibility in memory choices.

- 32-bit core for higher performance.
- Integrated SPI port on MCF5282. The DS80C400 uses software libraries for SPI communications.
